MAP2 through to final stage!
22 April 2012
MAP2 is our proposed new primary school for Plymouth. The sponsors of Marine Academy Plymouth decided to ask the Department for Education for a new school on the Trevithick Road campus when we heard about the desperate shortage of primary school places in Plymouth.
We already have a nursery on campus (Shining Stars), and decided a primary school would give our community an 'all through school'. So, if we get through this final stage, we'll have a school from 0 to 18 years! It's been a thorough process.
First, we announced our proposals and consulted widely, in fact we're still consulting so please leave us your feedback via the MAP2 website. We gathered up all of the input, and we presented a very large (300 pages plus) document to the Department for Education (DfE).
We are thrilled to have made it through to the final stage. Helen Mathieson, Principal at Marine Academy said; "It's wonderful news that the Marine Academy plymouth's application has been successful in passing the first stage of the process to provide much needed primary school places for for our children. I am delighted: this means there is an even stronger chance that MAP2 will become a reality for St Budeaux and area."
This next and final stage means that we have been invited to the Department for Education (DfE) in London and will be interviewed by officials for around 90 minutes on the 25th May. Fingers crossed!
