Marine Academy Plymouth is committed to developing new and supported ‘pathways’ for all learners – students and adults, into further and higher education opportunities within the University and Cornwall College.

Who is the Academy for?

Marine Academy Plymouth provides free education for every student within its community. All students who attended Tamarside Community College automatically transfer to the Marine Academy Plymouth. The Academy follows the Local Authority’s Admissions Policy in relation to brothers and sisters and with regard to looked after children and those with statements of special educational needs (SEN). It will continue to be a non-selective school. The Academy will maintain a post-16 provision and enhance this through an increased partnership with the other secondary schools and Colleges across Plymouth and of course with both Cornwall College and the University of Plymouth. In addition, existing relationships with local primary schools will be strengthened and developed further so that the Marine Academy Plymouth becomes the first choice school for all parents and carers who wish their children to take advantage of the exciting new opportunities that will be available.

Anchored in the community…

Marine Academy Plymouth will improve education in northwest Plymouth, and work with other schools to improve education in the City as a whole. The Academy and its sponsors are committed to supporting the community; we will maintain and extend the current pastoral care services, using the resources of the Academy to enrich learning and lives. Lifelong Learning is not just for the Academy’s students, but for adults too. The Marine Academy Plymouth will soon offer new adult learning courses for the community and facilities that will be open and accessible to the whole community.
