Football
The extensive Marine Academy Plymouth (MAP) football network is amongst the largest and most successful in the South West.
The various community sessions: introduction to football programme, Coaching School and competing teams ensure both girls and boys have a fantastic opportunity to learn and play the ‘beautiful game’ at MAP.
The courses are directed by Sports Manager Darren Stewart, who has previously coached and managed at Plymouth Argyle’s Centre of Excellence and the Manchester United Soccer School, he is currently Plymouth Schools’ FA General Manager.
The implementation of the sessions by our team of FA qualified coaches led by MAP Sports Assistant Martin Piper are specifically modified to suit all ages and abilities, ensuring fun and active participation, but, recognising the commitment to coach our players as teams and individuals, to fulfil their full potential, a fact acknowledged by many professional clubs who offer contracts to many players coming through our schemes, every season.
The MAP FC (formerly Tamarside FC) network has enjoyed unprecedented success in local leagues, cup and county competitions and is now firmly looking forward to a new era of success.
Please take a look at the various community, coaching and team pages for the ages that apply to you, and get in contact with us, we look forward to meeting you.

Marine Academy Plymouth Football Club Coaching School
The Soccer Coaching School takes players from the ‘introduction to football programme’ who we feel will benefit from additional coaching, and have both the ability and maturity to adapt to a more structured approach to learning with the emphasis very much on players’ individual techniques and appreciation of team play. The soccer school supplies the Marine Academy Plymouth Juniors and Kings sides with their junior teams at under 7s and 8s levels, before becoming part of the Club structure at under 9s.
The sides produced, have consistently been amongst the best sides in the South West over recent years, and continue to supply professional clubs players for their development and centres of excellence. Not only do players attend the coaching sessions, the opportunity is there to play ‘friendlies’, enter tournaments, and we even have our own presentation every 2 seasons to reward players for their enthusiasm and dedication to training.
The players wear the MAP Coaching training kit, which is available from Hoppy’s Sports.
