Welcome to Marine Academy Plymouth on behalf of the Governing Body.
The Board is responsible for the Academy’s vision and long term strategic direction, for the financial sustainability of the Academy and for the performance of the Principal and his Senior Team. Together we have collective responsibility for the Academy's governance arrangements and our aim is to ensure that governance is both robust and absolutely fitting for the ambitions of the Academy and the community that we serve. The Board is tasked with helping to ensuring year on year improvement’s in the Academy’s performance and we do this by providing support, advice, expertise and challenge.
Our Governors are drawn from a number of different walks of life and have a diverse mix of skills and experience. Our Board comprises of 15 Governors, the majority of whom work for one of our three sponsors - the University of Plymouth, Plymouth City Council and Cornwall College. Currently our Board is constituted as follows:
- The University of Plymouth - 4 Governors
- Cornwall College - 1 Governor and 1 vacancy
- Plymouth City Council - 2 Governors
- Parent representatives - 2 (one focussing on our Nursery/Primary phase and the other focusing on Secondary and Post 16)
- Community - 4 Governors
- Staff - 1 vacancy
